Tyler L. Cook is an Independent Spirit Award nominated picture editor currently based in Los Angeles, CA.

Born in Findlay, OH, Tyler received his BFA in Film from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC. He spent his summers in college working on set and in the editing rooms of alumni feature films, most notably Great World of Sound and Low and Behold, which both premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

Upon graduation, Tyler moved to Los Angeles and continued working as an assistant editor for independent features and television. In 2012, Tyler was promoted to Editor on The Vampire Diaries, a series he cut two seasons of before co-editing the pilot of its spinoff show The Originals.

Since then he has worked on a number of critically acclaimed and award nominated shows such as Daisy Jones & the Six, GLOW, and Little Fires Everywhere. In 2020, he was nominated for Best Editing at the 35th Independent Spirit Awards for his work on the feature film Sword of Trust, directed by Lynn Shelton.

Tyler enjoys working in a wide range of genres from horror to comedy and is particularly interested in character driven stories with difficult tones that utilize all of the tools of the cinematic medium.
